I've had some small rust spots on the inside of my drivers door for some time. It hasn't concerned me that much in the past because you couldn't see it. Today after the car wash, though, I saw that it has made it's way to the outside of the door. It runs most of the length of the door with a few bubble spots. If I remember correctly, the rust coverage ended at 80,000 miles (please somebody tell me I'm wrong) and I'm at 85,000. Has anyone replaced or had this fixed? I'm wondering how much I'm looking at? Thanks!

For 1996 year (I presume it is the same for your year), "If corrosion causes perforation (holes), ...... 5 years regardless of the miles driven." "If corrosion does not cause holes, .......3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first."

correct...it has to rust through a panel in order for ford to replace it,not just surface rust..

So, I need to see daylight is what you're saying? I also passed my 5 year birthday in November, 2005. Thanks for the info. Has anyone had to get this fixed without the warranty?

Do it yourself. Sand off the rust, and put some rust inhibitor on it, then primer, then paint, then clearcoat. The bottom edge of my drivers door is doing that.

That is an option. I don't have the space (or even a garage), but my brother-in-law has all of that stuff and a great garage to do it in. He's kind of weird, though, so it depends on how much the body shop tells me on whether or not it would be worth doing the project with him! Have you fixed your's already? If so, how long did it take? cost? etc?

After removing my mudflaps last year I saw the car had formed a rust spot where one of the screw for the mudflaps was. As soon as weather permits I'm going to fix it. No worries on yor situation, my doors have the same thing going on, just not nearly as bad as to have holes coming through. The time has come where touch-ups are starting not to work
