111K miles, original motor, 2nd tranny (my fault). No problems w/ the motor at all, other than maintainence.

Wow Big Jim, that is impressive. How often do you clean the UIM/LIM? Off the car or with Berrymans? Do you have any other maintenance tips/suggestions?

TIA

The intake manifold has never been apart. I clean the throttle body often, at least every 10,000 miles. The air filter is changed every 15,000 miles. I do a vacuum suck intake cleaning about every 10,000 to 15,000 miles, although I did not start doing this until it already had a bunch of miles on it.

Beyond that, I believe in agressive maintenance. Originally oil and oil filter every 3,000 miles using dino Mobil 5W30, currenty every 5,000 miles using various brands of synthetic oil. Will probably go to Mobil 7500 blend every 5000 miles. Change coolant every year. Change brake fluid every year. And so on.

I was thinking the same thing. I never beat mine and always ran the "tranny cocktail" and still had bad synchros on 2nd and 3rd by 80k miles. Bought it with 20k miles but I doubt the previous owner hurt it much since the car shifted great right up until it didn't

I have had many manual tranny cars and never experienced synchro issues like this.

Interesting that you've never had the UIM/LIM off...

You would change your mind if you ever drove with me. Perhaps the synchro's are in such good shape because I often drive without using the clutch (maybe about 10% of the time).

Do you double clutch Jim? I do, hoping to squeeze ever mile I can out of the tranny.

No. The trans is solid. It shifts better now than when new. As long as I avoid wheel hop it seems to take whatever abuse I give it.
