Yeah,so I haven't been around for a while. Been busy with work and all,and truck shopping. Poor old Contour is hanging on by a thread, clinging to life each day.

Currently sits at 299,627km in the driveway. My used tranny that I had installed back in August is acting up,with very rough shifts, very stiff, needing 2 hands to sometimes to change gears...on a warm day. Sometimes won't even go into gear,or pops out of gear. Otherwise, mechanically, the car is sound.

Paint is beaten to hell from ice and chipping off everywhere,my grille emblem fell off,my window seals on the outsides of the driver's side doors have fallen off (MIA),one of my Reflex wipers is bent, passenger's side front turn signal lens is shattered from a rock or something hitting it the other day, passenger side front fender has a nice dent from my boot in it,driver's side door also has a dent below the window from my angry boot when my door latch froze and the door would not stay closed last week, aaaand my passenger side front speaker grille is smashed out due to an annoying rattling speaker, which no longer rattles....or works.

I probably drive the biggest hunk of crap Contour on the road right now,in all of North America. I absolutely am fed up having to drive this car every day. Much of the damage listed above is self inflicted by myself, not being able to control my anger towards the car. I have not washed the car since November,it is absolutely filthy inside and out,and I am ready to send it to the crusher.

I can't wait to finally get rid of this hunk of crap, and I really think I wasted my time, effort and mostly,my money on this car. The amount of money I spent fixing it could have actually bought me a decent car in the first place.

I currently have $4000 saved for a down payment on a new(er) truck. I posted a little while ago that I had ordered a 2006 Cobalt SS sedan, but I had to cancel the order after finding out how much my insurance was going to cost me. I'm on the search for a 2000-2004 Sonoma/S10 4x4 SLS or ZR2 crew cab,or a '98-'04 Silverado/Sierra ext cab 4x4,'04-05 Colorado/Canyon ext or crew cab 4x4 or a 97-03 F150 ext cab or crew cab 4x4. I'm looking at March at the earliest to pick something up,and as far as I'm concerned with the Contour,I'm done with them, will never buy another Contour and will be more than happy to get rid of it.

Anyways, that's my situation,I'm a little sour because I spent the better part of 45 minutes sitting in a ditch in a snow storm tonight waiting for a tow truck. I wish I rolled the f*cking car into the ditch and totalled instead of sliding in at 10kmh.

299k km... why are you so pissed? Did you expect the car to last forever in perfect condition?

Sounds like some things could have been kept up if you wanted to invest in the maintenance. But I dont care what car you have, if you decide to let the maintenance go it should not be a suprise to end up with a car in that condition.

No, he bought it with high mileage and then whines when he has to spend money fixing it. After reading this post it leads me to believe he didn't really treat the car well to begin with.

And now he's looking at those pick ups that historically have a crappy reputation too. Any bets his future includes the rant: "my S-10 has high miles, it was abused, I hate it, it began falling apart even before I bought it, what a POS!"?

Complaining must make him so happy. Maybe we should take up a collection and get him the car he apparently really wants and deserves: a Yugo.

What an ignorant whiner.

You have nearly 200,000 miles on a 12 year old chassis that has countless damage you tell us you inflicted yourself. Then you are surprised, pissed, and whine like a baby because of it.

Instead of getting a new vehicle you need to get a clue. You should have just enough money to buy a used one. Well save some for driving school because by your stories you are a danger and menace to all the other drivers on the road.

That as a bit of hypocritical banter or just pure ignorance you state other then the used slushbox (which may have been bad to begin with since you never checked it out ) the car is 100% mechanically sound, at 200k miles.

Yeah, you are really getting annoying. My other car (92 buick) is beaten to hell with 175k miles. The paint blows the body is banged up here and there, nothing really from myself. People back into it and I just shrug it off. I keep the interior as clean as possible though. I bought the car for 750$ and have put 250$ worth of parts into it. The tires are pretty FUBAR'd, but I still manage to make it around in the snow without error.

Maybe it would have been better if you would have just kept the Mystique that you said you use to have.
