how much did it cost you? I got a quote for $350 to remove the old one and replace it with a reinforced part that I'm providing; that's all labor!.. I about [censored] a brick, I didn't think it'd be over $100 without an alignment.
also, who's been doing it? almost all garages said to talk to a frame shop; frame shops told me their suspension work is done by garages. come on guys, it's just a simple remove and replace. I'd do it if I had a driveway... just take my money already.

Hey Louis. Although I'm none of the above, I charge $300 (CDN) to do the remove, repair AND reinstall. Plus I reinstall WITH the correct alignment pins so the subframe is correctly aligned to the chassis and before I install, I set everything up and run the suspension completely through it's range of motion to be absolutely certain that no binding or component interference will happen. This is done with the complete assembled sub & suspension sitting on the garage floor.
If it was me, I'd take it to the Ford dealer as they're the only ones who have the alignment pin set necessary for installing either the front or rear subframe. It can be done without alignment to the chassis, but I wouldn't go there...

Hey Louis. Are you planning on going to SZ? I'm not too much further than Fort Wayne... at least if you've come that far.
Good luck.

I did it. It took about an hour to break all the rusted bolts free with hand tools, but it was easy from there on. As was mentioned, you can put it back in using a socket that fits the alignment hole. On a lift, with air tools, this is a 30 min job. Anything more than 1hr labor is BS. I'd really try to find some place where you can do it yourself, if at all possible. You need a jack and stands, a good socket set, and that's about it. You could buy all the tools brand new, and a case of beer for your neighbor, and do it in their driveway for less than $350. And then you'd have tools and beer when you were done!
