Does anybody here have a degree in biology, if so what type of jobs are out there?
Better yet, any pharmaceutical sales reps?

i know a guy who does sales and i don't think he has a biology degree. He does make a buttload and a half of money. He has an F430 on order. (he does have other means of making money though)

Well, I'm on my last semester for my Cell Molec Bio major. I'm also planning to rewrite the April MCATs then apply to Medical School, thus I have a year off. Hence, I've been allocating time into job searching. I've actually networked with a few Biotech companies through my University's Bio staff, and I must say the industry pays really well. With just a BS I'm finding jobs willing to pay me 50-60k, though I do have about 3 years of laboratory experience. (Not a bad chunk of change at all). I'm actually thinking about working a couple of years then going to medical school, so that I'm more financially stable rather than racking up more loans.
Go to your school's career center and have a talk with them. It really depends on location. For example, I talked with a few guys who specialize in Ni-NTA purification kits, (go figure!) in Ann Arbor (where my University is situated), and to be honest business was not good. They started lab techs w/just a BS at 35k. I think the only way to make the big bucks in this industry is to settle out East/West.

Best sales reps are female and marketing majors. You don't need to understand the drugs just market and promote them.
With the tightening of the rules by the FDA less and less Dr. contact is the norm, passing out freebies and marketing mateiral is now common place.

I would think with a degree in something like Cellular Microbiology one would make more than $50K starting out. Not that I really have any idea what one would do with that degree, but it sure sounds a lot more impressive than my Logistics degree, and my initial offers out of school were higher than that.

Yeah, unfortunately UofM killed my GPA. I assume partial responsibility, but I also think with a big university name comes increased competition among students along with cockier, less helpful staff. To me, UofM professors are people with chips on their shoulders from not getting that MIT position. Don't get me wrong, they are all brilliant, but in terms of resourcefulness they are definitely lagging. Point in case, I just took my Cell Bio exam and the professor emailed all students asking not to contact him regarding the exam since his answers are the "right" answers. Quote, "Don't undermine yourself by asking me questions, when you know well that the answers in the key are the only solutions."
Sigma- You'd think so. Even with a big name like University of Michigan to back it up, this is not sufficient. I believe you really need a few good years outside University research to get that added cushion on to the salary end. In my opinion, this field is very bias when it comes to experience, regardless of innovation or novel ideas one may have.
