ok ive searched and read all about custom exhaust setups but none of which im wanting to do. my setup consists of replacing the resonator on my svt with a flowmaster, extermeflow, borla etc..muffler while cutting the mufflers off the end and replacing with straight pipe with megs 4 inch exhaust tips on the end. I was reading about how this is said to cause a droning sound and rasp if so is the sound a 4 cyl. ricey sound or is it deep like a V8..if it produces a ricey I probably will replace the resonater with a muffler and leave the existing mufflers on the end..feel free to post any comments on the subject as what to do

ok, check this link out
http://www.contour.org/cgi-ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=40&t=000446
for the quick videos, my setup was SHOShop Ypipe w/ cat, 2.5" tubing into a Bullet muffler (straight through), 2.5" tubing post middle muffler, rear y split w/ 2" piping. NO REAR MUFFLERS. It was very sweet sounding. Loud at sea level, but still sweet sounding.
I say try it! I loved that setup, but I didn't want my car to be obnoxious once I got my headers on. Hit me up if you want more info.
Hope that helps.

O.K., love the sound clips.
have a 99 contour sport and want to add the same
dual setup you have. Just removed the resonator and want more. What brand mufflers did you use? All SHOshop? Just bought the contour about 12 weeks ago and I'm just starting mods. allready added KKM intake. Time to start the exhaust. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hey Derek, where did you get the Bullet muffler from, and how much did it run you? Also, in your opinion (and compared to your setup) what do you think an SE with no cat and the Bullet as a resonator, and a Flowmaster dual chamber would sound like? You think that just the Bullet and no Flowmaster would sound better? Any opinions would be helpful! Thanks... -Nick

Mike N., reread my 2nd post, I believe all your questions are answered there. Also, look around for a used SVT exhaust as a good starting point.

Nick,
I got the 12" Bullet Muffler from carparts.com, but I don't think they sell them any more. frown It is stainless and it only ran about $55. My thoughts: Because you have no cat, try out a longer muffler (about 14") to use as the middle muffler and try it w/o the Flowmaster. Do I think it will sound better w/o the Flowmaster? Yeah. Try it, and let me know what you think!

It's the brand. I don't know who sells it anymore.
I looked in your sig - You could just try putting your current Flowmaster where your resonator used to be, and put straight pipe in place of your Flowmaster...
