Has anyone hit the fuel shut off at 142? Because I was going 145 the other day, and I was wondering...did the screw something up when they put in my new engine? Just curious, does anyone know if it is actually limited at 142 mph, or what the deal is? I'm going tomorrow night to see if I can top it out, wish me luck...795 here I come.

SVT's dont have a fuel cutoff. They are drag limited to 143-ish. Although you hit and indicated 145, you probably weren't going that fast due to speedometer error.

Well then, we'll see if we can't make her a little more aerodynamic...
just kidding. but I'm pretty sure my speedometer is right, since those damn police machines that tell you your speed is dead on are right. Plus, I was going slightly downhill, I'll have to find a good downhill and see if that helps her.

The speedo in cars is way off. You can usually guestimate a 15% error...especially at the top end...like when my bike says I am doing 182....I really am not going that fast...close but note quite....get it checked at a speedo calibration shop with a dyno. They can run it through the gears and calibrate it for you...usually around $50-75 USD
Just call me Judge. People suck. Life begins at 170mph...until that point it is just boring.....

The speedo get substancially off the further past 75-80mph you go. close estimates3-4% at 50mph (48mph) 5% at 75mph (72mph) 7% at 100mph (93mph) 9% at 125mph (115mph) 11% at 150mph (134mph) Tire diameter can drastically effect indicated as well. I have hit as high around 150mph indicated and the OBD-II showed 136mph max speed. I have stock tire diameter (minus a tenth or so for wear) It was still pulling well at that point too... Closed road, professional driver, contents may settle, disclaimer of course...

My experience on the dyno: 125 MPH indicated was 121 MPH by the rollers. Running in 4th gear, with Bridgestone Potenza RE730 205/55R16 on E0 wheels. FWIW.

Last night I was doing 155 MPH in MY Contour SVT with a little left, but ran out of road. I was clocked also by radar and it said what i was doing. I have stock tires and rims, I also had other people in my car doing top end runs with a Nissan Sentra V-Spec and a Newer Prelude. Then I was clocked by radar as I flew past a cop. I didn't get caught but somebody that I was doing the top end runs witch he got caught and the cop told him that "I clocked the other ******* doing 100 MPH over the Speed Limit!!!!""" He got clocked at 110MPH and got a speeding ticket for 85 in a 55. But the cop kept asking him if he knew me and what type of car it was lol
