Yes I am new and I did search but found nothing. I need to clean my throttle body cause there is a little resistance at first on the pedal and I can see the builup on the throttle body itself.

However...right on my t.b. there is a sticker saying, "dont clean cause it has a special coating." So is it ok to clean or what? I dont really see how the cleaner would affect the coating especially when it has 76K on it. But just wanted to double check.

It is ok to clean it.

Edit. TB cleaning

IIRC, Big Jim mentioned that at his previous dealership, some of the techs would sometimes clean the TB and not bill for it if it was under warranty as Ford would not pay for the cleaning and would even void the warranty if the TB was cleaned instead of replaced.

Okay...thanks...just wanted to double check. I can just spray some t.b. cleaner right on it and down the manifold right...I mean its not going to be the whole bottle but just a little. And I will wait a bit and maybe some will evaporate. Sound ok?

Same guys that would replace the MAF sensor instead of cleaning it.

I would suggest removing the TB and cleaning with a toothbrush.

In addition, for what is left on/in the manifold, some have reported having issues when spraying directly into and then letting the crud flow into the manifold. I would spray some and then wipe it off rather than letting it flow into the manifold.

Just take the T/B off. It's 4 bolts, 2 cables, and a TPS sensor, and taking off the intake tube. Spray the cleaner right onto the plate, and whipe it clean with shop rags. Then reinstall it.

I was kinda hoping to do the half @$$ manifold cleaning also while doing this.(just cleaning it on the car with cleaner) But now I will just remove the t.b. and clean that, and save the complete manifold cleaning for the weekend. Thanks

Good thinking! You'll thank yourself once you have it all apart, and can see that crap that's caked on there.
