Except for that whole 'stuck-in-the-80s-in-regards-to-passenger-comfort-and-service' part. I fly them a few weeks ago. It was a 757 as I recall. And sitting down reminded me of flying in the old Valujet planes straight out of the 1960s.
Although I like American and fly them 95% of the time (Executive Platinum), I really do think that Delta has the best service and the best overall flying experience as far as a US carrier goes. United's ATC channel is by far the best thing about them.

Take it from a New Yorker...that ATC was FAR from losing it. However, he gave very clear instructions, and was patient until he was presented with the danger of a pilot who couldn't follow simple commands.

Yeah, I just listened to this last night, and I'm trying to figure out where the ATC guy "freaked out." IMO he actually kept a pretty calm head, seeing as how the Iberian pilot first ignored the direction, and then could barely bring himself to respond at all.

My dad gets 1st class a lot for free (well, sorta) with Alaska Airlines (can you guess where he lives...).
He books all his flights online, which gives him a ton of miles (like 10,000 each time). This last time, he called them to upgrade to 1st class with his miles. Dude only "charged" him 1st class for one way. Means he got his way back with free 1st class!
Personally, I've never flown 1st class... but I wanna try it sometime since I barely fit in most economy seats (6'3" all legs!)
EDIT: oh, was gonna mention it before, but figured it was pointless.
I did a job in the tower here, dunno if they were talking to aircraft or a ground crew, but they were talking normal to em. Tower asked a question, and whoever replied back was like "uhh... yeah"
See, pretty pointless cause I don't know if they were talking to a pilot!
The head ATC used all the aviation weather lingo when she talked, though.

Alaska Airlines is the worst US airline..lol..I believe American Airlines has the best service from what I have read. But it comes down to what you prefer. I have about 100k miles on my frequent flyer and thats through flying United and all its partners. When I travel to Pakistan, I for sure always travel first class..
