How can a welded intake manifold cause a fire or the engine to explode? On my 3.0L I brought it in to a dealership to get checked out for a antifreeze leak and they said you intake mani is welded and that its gonna explode or cause a fire. Its amazing the thing even works. What they hell are they talking about? I think they are just affraid of a modded car. And another thing is they say the engine is too big to fit in the car. Even though a '04 ford escape motor is the same exact block as a 99 v6 cougar block, except its bored out to a 3.0L. And it uses the stock engine mounts. All I wanted them to do was pull some codes and find out where the hell my antifreeze is leaking from sinec it is a large leak in the back of the engine. Thanks

Autozone or Advance will do this for free. Or buy a code scanner for $75 up.

You need to ask the dealership questions. No offense, but you need to not act like a pansy to them, and tell them to do what's asked. You are their customer. If they want to tell you about some other issues, that's fine. You need to ask about the details. Upper Intake Manifold or Lower Intake Manifold? Where at was it welded?
Basically, you're asking a bunch of people to diagnose your car without giving any details. Find out what's going on with the dealership and report back.

Wait wait wait.. Why is it the dealership's fault? 3.0L Cougar had the 3.0L installed by somebody else, which we have no idea what he did. My suggestion would be to bring the car to the person that built it, and tell him that(if this was a recent build) he needs to fix the problem. If he for some reason welded something on the intake manifold, I can't figure out what it'd be.

The thing is I haven't even talked directly with the dealership. I've been getting all my info through my dad since Im always working and can't go in. But Im just gonna call them today.
And the intake manifold is from a 01 tarus. The escape uim and lim wouldn't fit since they are to tall.
But Ford said that the whole intake manifold was permenantly welded to the block...I just don't understand that. The bolts hold it on not a weld.
And I didn't go to autozone because I got the car toad in to the dealership but made sure to tell them everything that it had. And they did the old "oh no problem we'll take a look at it" And then next day they call back and say its gonna blow up. It just seems like they should be able to find the leak. Thats all I wanted them to do...I'll update this after I call them later today.
