Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General General A Little Help Please

I am looking into buying a Contour SVT some time this summer. I was just wondering if there are any common problem's that I should look for when inspecting one? Also, how do insurance rates differ on a Contour SVT compared to a regular Contour V6. Im only 19 years old, no accidents, but my insurance is high as it is.

Secondly.. to answer your post..

When posting, here on the CEG, it is common practice to use our "Search" function, first. The Search link is located on the top right of the forums page.. ( clicky! ) Try looking there, before asking.. the reason being, that most questions, especially ones like this one, have been answered more times than we care to count.... and ample information can be located within the archives of this board..

As far as common problems to visually inspect...

Look at the dash for the "dash warp" (search to find out..)
Rust and corrosion, if applicable to you.
Paint defects (some of us have had them)
Even Tire wear...(not contique specific.. just smart)
"Bumper Sag".. search.... you'll see..

Check the stiffness of the clutch, and tranny, when shifting... (MANY topics on this, too..)

The Waterpump notoriously goes out at about 60k.. but some can attest to further lives... easy fix, if done before it breaks..
