Alrighty...I'm customizing my exhaust starting this Thursday...and working on it at my local pepboys until saturday night !

Here is my problem...I had a custom engine transfer...a 4.8L mustang conversion which worked...but...it had problems ( waste of time ) anyways...I put my old block back in... the Zetec 2.0 engine...this engine had no mods what so ever...so i'm deciding to work on the exhuast before heavy snow comes...

My question...
I have the K&N Air Filter coming in the mail...it will arrive tomorrow at my performance parts store, and i will begin installation thursday...my question is...with my current exhaust pipes that run under the car...can i put a high performance muffler on the car ? One of those huge one with the 6 inch exhaust tips ( only one...I think it's a flowmaster...

My friend said it was ok...cause he did the same to his Civic...and it boosted his horse power +40 or so...and gave it a really nice sound and thats rare with Honda Vechicles.

Yesh I'm very serious about the transfer lol, it was very difficult...cause if you've notice with contours...there's very little space to work with under the hood...everythings crunched up.

Ok let me simplify my question...

Without changing any pipes...can i remove my old muffler and put a better MagnaFlow Universal high performance muffler in it's place ?

The BS meter is going into uncharted territory here...

Really, it had problems? Care to point out the problems, maybe the use of a phantom engine? Care to give us a few pics of the install(hell how about of just the engine) so we can help troubleshoot this monster? I was looking to put in a Viper V-10 in my tour, your experience will be invaluable

40hp, or are we using some rice ratio ([decibel output of new muffler/decibel output stock]*100)?

Have some faith, Krafty... his installer just needs to talk to mine. I got my 4.6L, er, I mean 4.8L engine from a Lincoln Mark VIII... it fit just fine. I tried retrofitting the blower off a junked Lightning, but it didn't quite clear the automatic tranny. My installer said that if I convert my car to a 5-speed, it should fit just fine. I'm just lucky that 100-shot of nahsssss didn't blow the welds on the intake... eek wink
