I'm sure it doesnt have anything to do with threads like this. A company has stepped forward to offer a performance product for our rides. I think it's great. If I had that kind of money sitting around right now I'd probably consider one.

AZ-SVT

Demon is right about the comparison between NECO's product and a superchip/S-AFC. I was sold on a few of this guys products until I went to the website and looked at the prices. IMHO, if they lower their prices, a few Contours owners will be drawn to their products.

Please note that this is not a "NECO" product per se... It's Weapon-R's and was test-fitted to the original poster's car.

You could buy a slew of better mods for less.

Like I noted...

That's the big problem. At their cost it's not remotely worth it when looking at the other options available...

If they were to sell their chip (1 viable code as of now) priced competitively against the others ($200 range, not $700+), their airbox/heatshield (if it's just a panel airbox, what's the point??? No clarification here) for under $100 & plastic molded vs METAL, and make a worthwhile intake setup they might be worth thinking about as a viable option...

As is. My statements stand...

Look at all your mods... you are dynoing 187Hp... I have Ram Air Kit, Cold Air box (metal), Dragon Intake, ECU by Weapon R ans a 2.5" Mandrel Bent Exhaust and I am dynoing 162.1HP.I think the proof shows its worth the money CONSIDERING I am not an SVT Duratec like yours. Like the other guy said, you all wonder why there isn't crap for your car.

I agree with you AutumnOrange. At one time there was nothing for our cars and I'm glad that weapon-r came out with their cold air box. Now can you tell me whether this cold air box will fit my 96 Contour 2.5 V6 atx. I am seriously thinking of buying this product. And will my stock IAT sensor fit in the air box without any modification?

Wasn't going to get into this as I commented at NECO but Though I do not think it was your intent, but you just supported Demon's point. He is making 25 FWHP more (which is about how much more an SVT starts with that a stock Duratec) and has similar mods - custom 2.5" exhaust, intake with homemade airbox (much less $$$), his custom burned ECU that he paid about $250 for instead of $700. No headers or gutted precats. He gained the about same with his power with his similar yet inexpensive mods compared with his "probable" baseline. Note at that dyno, his Apexi-i was set to zero (ie not contibuting to power). I believe he has yet to dyno tune it.

Thanks Dan. I wasn't going to blatantly point that out, but you did such a nice job of it so... wink

BTW my chip only cost $200 and the dyno run was with a fairly beat up KKM (imploded run 5) and we all know the new K&N I have now is worth a few more high rpm ponies thanks to you... laugh

DemonSVT,

Curious which size K&N did you get to fit? And did you make your heatshield or did you buy one?

Later

9" K&N Conical.

I am currently running my bargain basement $2 heatshield (bottom of a rubbermaid wastebasket), but have the big expensive epoxied one ready to go in once I do my intake work (It cost like $5-10) All it needs is some final trimming with the aviation snips once the length is set...
