Hi guys, I just bought a used contour and I was wondering if there was any way to check if my car previosly had a factory keyless entry, because i dont have a transmitter. The dealership charges 45 to check wit the scanner, I was wondering if anyone had a different way of checking for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All I needed was to add remotes to my receiver. I got new units for about 1/3 dealer price for my 99 Contour and 02 Taurus on - http://www.ThePartsYouNeed.com They seem to have remotes for everything on their site.

I've been to the thread about looking for the wire plug behind the glove box, and sure enough I have the correct plug/wires there, however someone said that I should check my trunk for a release mechanism and antenna, but what am I looking for? Any pictures?
I have a 99 Contour SE Sport.
Thanks!

I don't know where the antenna is at (I should find it since mine is messed up), but the release is where the latch is.
You might not be able to see it with the black plastic trim still on there, but if you pull off that trim and see a solenoid with wires, you've got keyless entry. I highly doubt they would put a power trunk release on a non-keyless car (since we all have a manual trunk release!).

Highly doubt is right, they didn't.

if you open the trunk and look up on the deck towards the left side of the car you will se an object with two wires comming off it, it is just clipped up there, you shouldn't miss it
But everyone has to remember, since I have answered this question "do I have keyless entry on my X year contour" that is was an option and most likely your car doesn't have keyless entry if it is a base line car. there are exception, like my mothers 99 SE Sport but that is rare
