IMO, as far as anything on your car (in regards to mods, interior, or audio), you only have to buy it once and it's yours, unless you get something cheap and crappy. as far as capacitors go, the difference b/w a "good" one and a crappy one is probably $30-40 TOPS, so just remember:
you get what you pay for

Ok. Im running like 2000 watts rms so i would kinda like a lot of power storage....How many farads would you reccomend

If you are looking for a lot of power storage, you aren't going to get it from caps. Their effectiveness (especially with larger caps) is negligible and their real world storage capacity are pretty small. Larger caps, typically have larger ESR values. Much better to have multiple smaller caps.

capacitors are useless for most music. if the bass is constantly hitting then the cap isnt doing a dam thing, but if bass hitting once in a while where as the cap has time to recharge then it would be helpful. if you listen to hip hop, rap, techno or some hard rock dont get a capacitor it will be useless. id only get one for looks that is about it

i have one cuz i was young and stupid and thought it would help. now i kno better tho and am too lazy to take it out.

Allright. I usually dont turn it up that much unless im trying to show it off to my friends or something. Probly maxed out never more then 15 20 minutes. I just dont want to have to replace the alternator later if i can prevent it now with some 75 dollar fix. Thanks

using a cap won't ever help your alternator. if anything, it will hurt it. you are introducing another "mouth to feed" for your alt. so in addition to the amps and battery (and other running accessories), it now has to "refill" the cap constantly.
also, you should know, a cap will completely drain (and subsequently "re-charge") exceptionally quickly and often. it doesn't matter if you're playing it hard for 1 minute or 100 minutes. the cap will be "emptying" and "refilling" the entire time.
