I just bought a 98 csvt last week with 73K and a few mods. The guy said it has these...sho shop headers, short throw shifter, intake, and a few others that dont really matter.
Anyhow I have been reading that you should wrap your headers and mine are not. Should I take the time and take them off to wrap them or leave them? They seem fine right now. No rust or discoloring but I dont know how the temp is affecting everything. BTW the exhaust is really loud and raspy and reminds me of a gen 1 or 2 SHO. I need to do something...cat-back system or add another muffler? Thanks

Are they jet hot coated?
Its probably not worth it to take them off at this point in time, they have probably been on long enough that if you were going to have problems, they would have arised.
Not to mention it would be a PITA to do the header removal.

Check underneath and see if someone removed the resonator from the center portion of the exhaust pipe. I've not done it, but others have said that it makes the exhaust sound raspy and annoying without it. In a stock system, from the Y-pipe to the rear, there should be a main cat, then the resonator, then a split to two pipes, and each one of those should have a muffler in it.
Oh -- and Welcome to CEG!

Are you running an aftermarket cat-back exhaust? Depending on what type, they might not have a resonator. Get yourself a nice straight-through Magnaflow race series resonator, and weld it in a little after the cat. It'll quiet the exhaust right up, and clear out any rasp.
BTW - Your headers are not SHO-SHOP headers. They're MSDS. SHO-SHOP just sold them.

Thanks for the info on the msds headers. What does msds stand for anyway?(and dont tell me...material data safety sheet! lol) And I forgot to mention above, that the cats(or cat) are gutted. It is a stock system after that. So am i ok to leave them unwrapped? What are the side effects of leaving them unwrapped? Thanks.

As said above...if you haven't had any problems arise...then there is no reason to wrap them. Most people DONT wrap them. Anyways...msds is material safety data sheets, you got your words mixed up..lol. I have no idea what the msds headers stands for...i'll assume its Marty's Super Duper Shorty's.

Wrapping the headers will void any warranty the headers may have, that alone should tell you something. If they are JetHot coated wrapping will also void the JetHot lifetime warranty as well...more info here link
