So the SVT has been pretty good so far, but the dash is definitly starting to warp more and more. It has 74,000 miles on it and is still coved under bumper to bumper warrenty by Easy Care(until 75,000). Done quite a bit of searching on the past posts and it appears that the the dealer will not fix the dash because it is after 8/02. I double checked this by asking the dealer and they said nothing about a recall or notification that had expired, and then proceded to tell me that trim pieces are not covered under warrenty. So my question is, should I give up trying to find a dealer that will fix this because it is under warranty, and is there anyway to stop or slow down this process?

The fix is relatively straighforward though involved. The fix kit is only ~$75 so if you're handy with tools and don't mind the hassle then you might give it a go. How-to

From looking at www.fordwarrantys.com the "dash pad" isn't even covered under the top of the line Premium Care warranty program, so it sounds like the dealer might not be incorrect. Read your warranty material to be sure.

Wow, I've never seen that how-to before. During the recall/customer satisfaction program I had the strip installed along the front of the dash (by the windshield) but now I have some warpage along the left side of my defroster vent. It's very minor and I would like to try to fix it before it gets to advanced. Looking at the how-to, I think that all I need is the u-clips. I have a couple of questions:

1). Can the defroster cover be re-installed securely w/ the u-clips in place.

2). Anybody have an extra u-clip sitting around?

I don't know of any extended warranty contract that covers soft trim.
