I have been quoted $240 for an install on a SHO Y-pipe. I am not a do-it-yourselfer. I live in an apartment and don't have an extensive tool collection. Just wanted to see if I would be getting ripped off by.

Thanks

It took me about an hour and a half. I took my time and I have a cast on my right hand. Just look out for rusted flange bolts.

i got quoted $70. $240 sounds ridiculous.

tried it myself; ended up paying ford $160 to replace the rear manifold flange bolts when they siezed and left me with a really obnoxious-sounding exhaust leak. never did get the y-pipe installed - traded the car a week later. the straw that broke the camel's back, as it were.

my SVT had about 53k miles on it, and those bolts were solid rust. put my borla on at 37k and didn't really have any problems w/ the cat-flange bolts, but those front ones....yeeouch.

that particular fiasco even cost me a trip to the tail of the dragon w/ the SE-CEG. hmph. mad

oh well. c'est la vie, especially when modifying cars.

I paid $30 for mine installed. The shop had also made my custom cat back flowmaster/ no resonator setup, so nothing with the Y-Pipe fit quite right, so they had to add a few pieces and custom make an adaptor to get the Y-pipe to fit right, and I still only paid $30. Oh, and he also "fixed" my cats included in that $30. $240 seems to me to be rediculous, even if the bolts were rusted, as they were on mine. Hope I could maybe help a bit... Peace y'all. -Nick

$240 seems ridiculous. $100 at the most IMO.
