Hi, it's time for me to replace the spark plugs. Any suggestions on other things I should do while I'm at it.

Also, what brand of spark plugs should I get?

Thanks.

Not to be a search Nazi, but does the search function not work anymore? It seems like that same question is asked weekly.

i did read the fag. i knew what brand to get, just was curious as to other opinions on it.

also, my first question never got answered. What else should I do while I'm at it. According to the FAQ I should do a UIM cleaning. Anything else you guys can think of?

Thanks

How much time and money do you have?

If both were available and I planned on keeping the car for several years, I'd replace the intake manifold gaskets (upper and lower) and clean the EGR passages. If the upstream O2 sensors are over 50K miles, I'd replace them, too. If the plug wires have over 75K on them, I'd swap them out, also.

If time and money are both tight, I'd just replace the plugs.
Use either the Autolite APP764s or the new Motorcraft fine wire. Either will do well and are around 4 bucks a plug. Anything else can be addressed when you have specific symptoms that pop up down the line.

Hi, thanks for the replies.

I've got plenty of time. I just don't know that I could do the upper and lower intake manifold gasket replacement and cleaning like you suggested. It seems like that's something that I would end up messing up. That's why I wanted to try the cleaning without removing the upper.
