Blake had one.. He was having some trouble getting it installed, rusted bolts on the stock setup and stuff. So he sold it. The car that is.

yep. actually still have it (the y-pipe, that is). the rusted bolts on the rear manifold flange were kinda the last straw of the little problems i had w/ my SVT...well, not really, but it sure didn't help. regardless - the RT y-pipe/cat is a very well-made affair. very high-quality....i've never seen the SHOshop assy. in person, but i'd venture to guess the RT setup is put together better and perhaps even better designed. again, that's an opinion, and not even a very well-informed one at that, but....there ya go. i got a really good deal on mine from RT, which is why i got it when i did. i was already thinking about getting rid of my SVT but decided that even if i bought the y-pipe and sold the car i could always pass the deal along to another CEG'er. which i'm doing - another SE-CEG'er (wes) is supposed to be buying it from me in a week or so. can't offer any performance #'s, but i'd venture to say they'd at least match, if not improve on, the SHOshop pipe. which is to say, you'd probably notice significant gains w/ it. hth...

hmmm let's see...aluminized steel piping w/ no cat vs. full stainless w/ a high-flow cat from one of the most well-respected names in the high-flow cat business. apples and oranges there, my friend. not knocking SHOshop's stuff - they have a lot more options w/ theirs (aluminized vs. stainless, cat vs. no cat), and even w/ the stainless/high-flow cat setup @ $350 they're a lot cheaper regardless - but the RT setup has a lot going it as well. the price puts it out of the league of a lot of people, but sometimes you pay for what you get. sometimes you don't - just gotta decide for yourself and pick out the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. i'm not defending their price - i've said from day one that it was overpriced and that i wouldn't have bought one if i hadn't gotten the deal that i did - but then i'd much rather have the RT piece than the shoshop one. i'd hate to see such a quality part be disregarded so quickly based solely on price. for that matter, has anyone checked into resellers for better prices? i know that if i ordered the borla exhaust from my RSX direct from borla i'd pay $800 but can get it from summit racing for $600. factory-direct prices are usually way high - guess they don't want to undercut their distributors (if they have any). there are people who cobble together custom exhaust systems for not a lot of money that CAN (and often do) look and sound as good and perform as well as a pre-engineered off-the-self borla/bassani/etc., but there will also always people willing to pay a little extra for the name, reputation, warranty, and known quality of a so-called "name brand". all that stuff may not be "worth it" to some people but it is to some (that's why i went w/ the borla exhaust and why i waited on the RT y-pipe). just trying to provide a different viewpoint, not stir the pot or anything...

Eric I agree but I'd settle for twice the power The only problem I have is its unproven, and we have seen, from dyno's, what a Super Unrestrictive Ypipe & cat combo can do. If you haven't check out some of Chris Wongs dyno's. I'd say stick with whats been proven. Unless you know the details of there design. Maybe someone will dyno though Later

I have the SHO stainless Y with cat. I am very happy with the performance and it was relatively easy to install (friend owning a Jiffy Lube with bays is helpful). I have to say that the weld finish on the inside of the Y could have been a little cleaner. Nothing a little time and filing didn't take care of. Take the time to prep the Y and install slowly. Slower is safer. .02

I have the sho off road..and the inner welds could be clean up a little..but nothing a few minutes of filing can't do.. But the performance is there..dyno proven. Has anyone dynoed the RT one? It would say a lot ..I'm sure that its as good if not better than the sho stainless w cat but how much better?
Thanks Eric

If you figure $50-75 per hp gained. I'll take the sho and file it down. Probably very similar results. Plus, It all depends on all of the other mods you have.
