The question:

Called my friend today who owns an engine restore shop called "The Engine Room" in South Portland, Maine talking to him about my motor. Short and sweet- he can get ahold of a brand new 05 3L Escape motor for a pretty good price. Now, I only have 19,870 miles on my SVT- what do you all think it is worth as a whole? I had the car dyno'd last year in August and put down 176hp/169Tq with a almost perfect A/F.

Genral Comment on my plans:

I know some of you 3L buffs will say, well, keep the cams, UIM, etc off yours and swap, but I'd rather do a complete 3L swap with plans of some sort of F/I in the future. Now, it's not that I think the mighty 2.5 is not capable of handling power (it is), but I'll feel a bit more at ease with something that has a much longer term of reliabilty to show for. I'll still do the clevites, rods, PnP, etc. I'll also probably have my buddy do all the work, as he has done this ONCE on a Cougar in his shop.

Comments welcome'd.

SVT intake cam and Mazda6 exhaust cam if you want to do F/I in the future. Also recommend the Mazda6 high volume oil pump.

A little more info on the higher flow pump...It's only used on the Mazda6, Fusion, and Lincoln LS(2003+ with VCT). It's not used on the Jag versions even though they have VCT. As I understood it was needed to provide enough oil pressure at lower rpm for the VCT operation. The Jag has a different VCT strategy which I guess activates at higher rpm.

Also, the higher flow pump costs more and causes very slight fuel economy hit. All those tenths of mpg add up.

Service PN is 3W4Z-6600-AA.

Very slight economy? So that is the reason to spend the $ on it? Tell me how this higher volume pump I worth the $ over the great flowing pump we already have. What economy are we talking about? Can someone prove this theory? Sounds like another CEG urban legend. "Well it flows more so it must be an excellent part to change."
