Dear 'Touristas,

Yesterday I rolled my E0 SVT on an off camber descending righthand turn up in the Berkshires in Massachusetts (not Old Blighty). I wasn't going much more than 35-40 mph, but the right front tire caught a pothole, which stuffed the valance into the snow. That gave me a pretty good spin (it was soaking wet out). An over correction put me sideways and perpendicular to the road. I hit a dry spot and the 'Tour slowly turtled on me. About 4 360s and 20 yards later it stopped. I was able to get out the drivers door, after I figured out how to unlatch the seatbelts. It's totaled, BUT only the windshield broke; 3 of the 4 doors open and close; no airbags popped. I got a cut from broken glass. The Guardian Angel was working overtime yesterday, it being Friday the 13th and all.

I've been a lurker more than a participant here in the eight years I've had the SVT. Although it spent a considerable amount of time in the shop over the years, when it ran right, it was the sweetest Steathmobile and best over the road car I've ever owned. I miss it already.

I'd like to publicly thank T Heynes for the developoment work he did on the SVT, it handled so well and had great road manners.

Regards and Bon Soir,

Garibaldi

Yeah, Massachusetts potholes can be pretty deep .. probably half the reason my suspension kept needing work on my Contour. Who was determined at fault?

Don't know. Either me or the road, I guess...
Info I received from the Massachusetts State Police at the site differs markedly from what they wrote on the citation.

The accident was pretty benign. The total distance between the pothole and where the car stopped was twenty to thirty yards. I went to the car yesterday to remove some personal items and with snow on it, it was impossible to tell it was damaged. This was an easy roll, kind of quirky, actually.

Thanks to all for the best wishes.

Now I'm looking for a Focus ST. I am a glutton for punishment...This time I'm buying a 7yr/100k ESP warranty.

Regards,
Garibaldi
