No i had no codes at all either, i borrowed a friends scanner he hasn't had a chance to drop by and check it out yet . But on the scanner (it's a $6000 OTC) i can see the second O2 not switching like the 1st (it stays on rich during idle) under data stream.

IAC made no diff at all, he did tell me to wait to let him check it out , ah well

I'm not sure what to make of that tho,i'll wait until he checks it out before i start switch o2's etc

A non switching downstream 02 could either be a bad O2 or a defective converter, although i'd expect a code.Sounds like you have a decent scanner at your disposal,With the OTC in datastream check it's going into "closed loop".

I had a customer a few months back that had an issue where it wasn't going into closed loop and i ended up having to replace the ecu, his initial complaint was poor idle and bad fuel consumption, although this is rare as it never once threw a code whereas it should of,but that i'm putting down to a damaged computer. He came back a few days later to say he'd found out his son had tried jumping his friends car and had crossed the cables more than once in attempting to do so.

Good Luck

Have you ever changed an O2 in your Tour? I haven't as of yet.
From what I know, when they go south they present a code. Thats the tough part of our situation. No codes means it's more difficult to diagnose.
I'm going to check my Chilton's CD and post back.
If you get something on your end, PM me or post here.

The 95 Zetec only has one O2 sensor in the manifold. I bought a bottle of Lucas fuel system lubricant today. For $5.99 it's worth a shot.
Do you think I should ask for my $89 back? That "Fuel System Care" did squat. Feels like a waste. I'll more than likely go give him the gears this week. I can't stand it when you spend the money on something a get zero results.

It really depends on what kind of service it was?

In my opinion one of the best in the Motorvac system
It's up to you if you want to try and get some kind of refund but i suspect you will get an "oh well you needed it anyway" kind of deal.

Good Luck

What kinda mileage on this thing?

How'd the mechanic check the PCV valve?

And you still haven't answered the question, did the cams need adjusting when the timing belt was changed? If the cams are off, I'm guessing a sharp guy would see something on a waveform, but it wouldn't be me.

The mileage is 170,214 km.
I changed the PCV about 2 months ago. The old one was still good. I didn't adjust the cams. They seemed fine.
I'm not convinced the timing is off-sorry.

I now know what it means. Where is the IAC valve on a 2.0L 95 Contour? That might be my problem with rough idle.

It's on the back/underside of the intake manifold. You gotta get under it. Kinda hard to get to.

I changed my PCV, IAC, cleaned everything, changed the #1 O2 sensor, and fuel filter, and my car still idles at around 500 rpm in drive. IT SHAAAAAKKKKKESSSSS your teeth out. I think a motor mount is out, but a motor mount wouldn't cause the engine to idle slower. WHat's the deal?
