howdy, I finally got rid of my bank too lean code.. I changed the MAF and poof. now I have a EGR Flow Insufficient, I believe that's a P0401. so I did a search on how to clean this stuff and there are no pictures that I see.. so uh here are mine.. maybe someone could point me in the right direction as to what to clean??

I know, it's quite dirty.... there was a gutted cat on the car for a while, now that everything is replaced it would see like that is taking it's toll. here are the pics

Ah..., see the white paper towel or cloth? Helps prevent things from falling in.

well I think I found what the problem was after I went out and bought a 100 $ part.. DAMNIT! I had needed custom work on the exhaust and they CUT the EGR metal pipe and linked it to the cat with a "high temp" rubber hose... the first hose melted, this one melted... I am annoyed. someone please verify for me that the EGR tube is metal for a reason. is if possible to use rubber/ he's telling me the engine is running hot. over 15K in this car I HIGHLY doubt the temp is a problem(abnormal) I think if I had a metal to begin with I want a metal or better this time. you know? I feel like pulling the guy aside and saying "if you were going in for a heart transplant, would you want an equal human heart, or a subversive chicken or lamb heart?" I mean, what gives! if I didn't love this car so much... phew.... *vent off. but seriously.. anybody know if the EGR SHOULD be metal? and maybe if every EGR on the planet is metal?? I don't like being told it's my fault when I pay to have a job done and get the "rubber" shaft... you know what I'm saying?

Yes, the EGR tube is supposed to be metal and it gets hot and that is why there is a "heat shield" over it.

Check out Chongo's picture with the EGR tube and the "heat shield".

In the pic Tony posted the EGR is at 1 o'clock, I'm guessing you know that.

On my 2.0L the EGR also has a 90º bend. Crud builds up in that bend and probably needs to be picked/ scraped out. Gently. You don't wanna damage the thing.

Oh, your last post!

You could problably get away with soft copper, it's bendable enough to route it. Otherwise, fix it with a boneyard part, or new. Then sue the goofball in small claims. You'll win.

Then you'll have to file another case to collect unless he's a shadetree guy and takes off.
