I searched and did not find anything. I am replacing my TP sensor, but when I slide the new sensor onto that flat head screw driver looking thing, and turn it to align the holes, I turned it to the right and the holes aligned but the throttle opened up. And stayed open. Is this suppose to happen? Or what is the correct way to install this sensor? Any help is great. Sorry if this is posted somewhere, I could not find anything though.

Thanks a lot,

Nick

I just opened the throttle a fraction and mine lined up. Then I put the screws in. Does it look like the same part you took off? I think the one from the SVT turns the opposite direction as the regular 2.5.

Yeah it looks just like the one that was on there. I got the replacement from Autozone, so it is a Wells. When I put it on, the connector is facing straight up. Then I turn it to the right to align the holes and the throttle opens up. And i feel some tension as the spring loosens inside the sensor. It dosen't seem like it is right to me.

The tab, that looks like a phillips head screw driver, is suppose to be horizontal isn't it? I don't know why the throttle is opening up. I would like to know exactly what it is I am suppose to do, before I break the TPS. I am going to work on it tomorrow. Anyone know of this happening?

Thanks

Does the electrical plug fit it? The SVT one needs an adapter when you use its TB.

Yeah the plug fits. When you installed your's did you start by putting it on with the connector pointing up? Or what?

Thanks

Bump. Can someone tell me if installing the sensor connector straight up, then turning it to the right to align the screw holes is the correct way to install the TPS. I thought it was, but when I did that, the throttle opened up and stayed open.

Please help,

I'd like to fix this tomorrow, so I can drive my car Monday.

Thanks.

Remove TPS, Try this procedure from Alldata.com:

[image][/image]

REMOVAL

Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove water pump pulley shield.
Disconnect fuel charging wiring from Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
Remove two TP sensor retaining screws.
Remove TP sensor.

INSTALLATION

Install TP sensor. Ensure that rotary tangs on sensor are in proper alignment. CAUTION: Slide rotary tangs into position over throttle shaft blade, then rotate TP sensor clockwise to installed position only. Failure to install the TP sensor in this manner may result in possible damage to the TP sensor or excessive idle speeds.
Secure TP sensor to throttle body with two retaining screws. Tighten to 2.8-3.8 Nm (25-34 in lb). NOTE: This TP sensor is not adjustable.
Connect fuel charging wiring to TP sensor.
Install water pump pulley shield. Tighten retaining screws securely.
Connect battery ground cable.
