Hey guys. I just had my catalytic converter go out about 2 weeks ago. And According to the Ford Car/Light Truck Warranty Guide (from 2000), Emissions parts including the Catalytic Converters are covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles.
I'm about to hit 90,000 miles. So I'm pretty much screwed.
Does anyone know where I can get a good deal on one for my SVT with CA Emissions. I've searched several places online and I can't find any that meet CA Emissions. I figured I would try my luck on here before I let the stealership bend me a over for an enormous $1900.00 for the part and labor.
Thanks guys.

bah just gut em. FIX the CEL and you're set or if you are set on having cats...a friend I know that has an exhaust shop does this. When someone comes in with a car that has expensive cats that have gone bad...ie contour or older tauri (taurus's) he guts the factory cat and welds an extra cat behind that spot. I personally would rather just gut them or it's a great time to buy headers...for just the header's it's only 200.

yes...marty now sells the header set in pieces...I had just the 2 headers shipped to me for about 220. That is uncoated however. You can gte them coated if you like. I used header paint on mine...the car barely ever gets driven!!!
It is MSDS.

You're talking about your primary cat.. not your pre-cats, right? Installing headers would have nothing to do with your primary cat. Not sure what aftermarket high flow cats are CA legal... might want to call trubendz and see if their cat pipe is legal.

Post your CEL codes. There have been mixed results in CA. passing emissions w/ gutted pre-cats. However I believe ScottK passed with gutted pre-cats and no main cat. Your best bet is to make sure your car is properly tuned. If you are getting codes that indicate failing pre-cats just install some MIL eliminators to get by the OBDII portion of the test. You should look for a place to check your emmissions before the actual test.
