This might have been brought up in the past but I was at work last night when this idea hit me. I noticed a lot of people here, me included have or are going to gut out the precats on the manifolds. Just a thought here but by doing that doesn't that allow the exhaust gasses to expand in side the now hollow chamber?

The idea here was to remove the manifolds and then remove the precats entirely from the manifold then weld in a small bullet camber muffler (whatever brand you prefer) then reattach the manifolds. The mufflers keep the exhaust gas pressurized all the way to the Y-pipe and out. Anyone have an opinion on this or would it make more sense to just go ahead and buy headers for all the trouble one would go through?

Just a thought before I attempt the precat mod myself.

i think the whole idea on the gutting precat mod is that it is basicly free. this is why i did it anyways. but you see the guts fill the whole manifold. there is no extra place to exspand. now on the front manifold there is a part that looks like a umm waterbong. sorry could not think of a better word. you coule cut aht out and replace if you wanted to. but that is a lot more work. do as you will thou. don't let me stop you.

Hey thats cool. Like I said it's just a thought. I never really looked the manifolds over that well anyway so it was my own lack of information that led to the idea. Thanks.
