well my friend has a 2000 contour automatic and she is having problems with it...since i dont know anything about fords ive come here for help. the CEL came on and i pulled the code and got a "P1519" which is "Intake Manifold Runner Control fault - Stuck Closed" the mechaninc that she took it to said that she needed to change air flow sensor, air control valve and O2 sensor which would be about $600! since she is getting married in june i really want to help her out but since ive only worked on imports, im a bit put off to touch her ford for fear of messing it up...so can you point to some places that i should look at please? pics and links would be very helpful as well...i searched but couldnt get anything...an online manual would be alot of help too. thanks ahead of time

For the online manual, try autozone.com, under repair info, vehicle repair guides. Good luck, Scott

The IMRC is part of the Duratec V6, it brings in the power by opening the secondary intake runners at 3-4000 rpm and is not a cheap part, try www.teamfordparts.com for all parts. The idle air control is needed if you have idle problems unless you clean it, the 02 sensor if there is a persistent code for that. Some at CEG have fixed the imrc, try searching troubleshooting or duratec maintenance, all posts for imrc and iac, cleaning etc.

That code would most likely be from a bad IMRC control box. You most likely need to replace it.

would the imrc also drain the battery when its faulty? i cleaned the iac valve and maf sensor on sundaybut on there way to margarita mondays, the car started acting up again...the battery light came on and slowly all the lights came on...the lights started gettng dimmer and the radio turned off and as soon as the car came into the parking lot it turned off. i agev it a jump cuz the battery was totally drained...could a faulty IMRC cause all of this?

Probably not. Charge the battery fully.
Then test the alternator. Engine running, voltage across battery terminals should be 14 to 14.5 volts.
Then test the battery. Engine off, lights on for one minute. Voltage across battery terminals should be 12 to 12.5 volts.
