ok, i recently bought another contour its a 95se atx, with 100,xxx miles, the problem i am having is it wont shift into overdrive.There is no flashing o/d light, and no cel.I did the drain and fill but still nothing.I was thinking maybe it is the tss,but not to sure.
95 s.e. 2.5l mtx ,koni yellows, h&r springs,kkm intake, ddm,custom catback exhaust, spec stage 3 , fidanza flywheel, all 98 svt midnight blue interior. , and much more....

Your wires are probably lose, take off the shift selecter and retrace the wiring, (its the only wire going up the shifter)

I already did that. the wires were fine. When i turn on the o/d switch the light comes on , and nothing happens.

My spedometer doesnt work either,i was thinking the tss or vss , i dunno, ne1 got ideas

Unfortunately, I'm having sort of same problem and need help on this one also. Don't have code, but was told by previous owner that the O/D flashing and code it presented said gears not shifting (duh) - AMMCO told him it needed to be rebuilt. '98 SE Sport, 184K, CD4E. Fluid looks good, not burnt or discolored (changed recently), etc. No shift into o/d, no upshift under hard acceleration, or no upshift when you stand on it for passing gear. If you drive like an old lady, she shifts around 3k-3.5k rpm. Also have Cat insufficient codes, both banks and the lean fuel code (O2 or air leak). I've read through the archives and could be anything from TSS (possible VSS on yours if speedo doesn't work)(My speedo still works)to if PCU can't achieve closed loop the O/D won't work(from archives). (In my case due to the insufficient cat code) and MSPLS (neutral safety switch). Look forward to some help. Thanks

looks like you need a new transmission. i would take it to a transmission shop but then again as always for them to make money they will say you need a new transmission take it to someone you can trust.

Key is VSS not working. Repair that first. Then see if you have overdrive.
Symptoms of non operating VSS are:
Firm shift feel, abnormal shift schedules, unexpected downshifts may occur at closed throttle. No 4th gear, no engine braking in 2nd or 3rd gear. No torque converter clutch apply. May flash TCIL.
Repair your VSS.
