Ok, well stock CD player. No aftermarket additions. Rear speakers are NEW oem Ford premium replacements. They went bad one at a time.

I noticed recently that the sound would cut off to all but the front LEFT speaker. It would then come back on all speakers when I pushed the volume button. Now it is off again, just the front LEFT speaker plays...and I connot get the rest to come on. I have wiggled the wires, checked the connections. All go and no results.

Is this concern the Factory amp loosing 3 channels, or the CD player itself?

Unplug the speaker connector at the amp, test each speaker with an ohm meter, across each wire pair so you know the speakers are OK. 3-8 ohms, all should match. If you have no meter, an AA battery can be used to "click" the speaker. Do you need a schematic diagram? Did your previous bad speakers sound scratchy and annoying,I have a couple bad ones right now..

I can get the diagrams at the dealer where i work tomorrow. i just was hoping there was a pattern failure in this system that people have had occur. the speakers are cheap at $25.00. The amps are everywhere on ebay and junk yards. its those highly sought after single DIN cd players that are hard to get for a good price.

Similar problem with factory stereo in the first Contour I had. Gonna get an aftermarket HU anyway so I didn't care much. At any rate, the factory unit was going belly up, the speakers were fine. The new JVC HU made a world of difference! Later I got a new set of 6x8 Kenwood co-ax & the sound quality has become astounding. Have a similar setup in both my Contiques.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Yea, well all the speakers came back on...lol. i dont want to buy a new/aftermarket head unit. I love the single DIN ford cd player. its a great design and works great. I'm sure you all know this by how much they sell for all the time on ebay. i'll live with it until it craps all together. I have a 12-sec thunderbird to blow any loose funds on right now. I just got this C-SVT for my daily beater. $5000 with 60K on the clock....
