Yes, you are the only one.

Come paint my house and we will paint your headlights. That's about what it would take to ever have another set painted.

Here ya go. Call a company in the phone book. Tell them you want your bathroom painted. They'll send out some 18 year old kid to do the small job. When he's done, tell him you'll pay him $xx.xx an hour to do your entire house on the side. Just guess what he's making, and go up $2-3/hr and the kid will be thrilled.

Otherwise, like Pete said, you're looking at over $2000 for a house that size, with color. I used to paint, and would be asked by customers to do jobs on the side for more than I was making. Good luck though, cause you're looking at a week+ of a rearanged house if you have a small crew working on it.

Also, are they painting all of the trim? That's the most time consuming part of painting. I personally don't tape anything off, as I've got a surgeons hand when it comes to cutting-in with a paintbrush. Maybe you could do some prep work?

A landlord friend of mine hires high school kids all the time to do that kind of work, for $10/hour. Just don't expect them to have a ton of experience, you might have to remind them about using drop cloths, removing outlet covers, etc. And chances are you'll have to stick around so they don't spend half the time taking smoke/lunch/cell phone breaks.

Most professional painters will insist on providing the paint. Client-provided paint often is the cheapest thing the homeowner can buy, resulting in maybe needing two coats verses one. Also if you have textured or "popcorn" ceilings, they may have to be sprayed instead of rolled or brushed.

You'd probably be better off with either college students or a "handyman" rather than a professional outfit if you're after low cost. Remember you get what you pay for, though.
