Just wondering if someone has had a similar experience and how they delt with it. I purchased a SVT UIM off ebay on Dec 18, 05. I was the winning bidder, as soon as the auction ended I promptly payed for the item via Paypal. Two days later I got a message from the seller stating "I thought I wouldn't need it for the 3.0l, but it turns out it's supposedly easier to use than the 3.0l version. Sorry for the confusion, it looks like i'll be keeping it." I don't think this is fair, but I am not sure of the rules. Can you choose to keep the item for yourself even after you have sold it, or are you obligated to sell it no matter what? Here is a link to the auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8022356884&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT I have not received any money back, but in all fairness I don't want my money back I want the item I paid for. Hope this doesn't turn into a mess, but I am starting to loose faith in ebay, this isn't the first time something has went wrong. Even if someone has a 100% positive feedback score it doesn't tell the whole story.

i am not 100% certain, but i believe as long as the reserve is met (if there is one) and you pay in a prompt manner according the the auction's guidlines, the seller is required to give you the item listed.

He has to sell you the item, unless you have agreed to different terms and you agree to take a refund instead.
If the seller decided he wanted to keep the item, then he should of cancelled the auction before the close of it. Contact eBay and Paypal ASAP about it.

Hopefully you have the email or message from the seller saying that they are keeping it as it will greatly help your case. Per eBay rules, he HAS to sell it to you, but all that's likely to happen in this situation is that you'll get your money back and he'll get a slap on the wrist from eBay.

Ummm... shoulda bought a Steeda! Actually, what happened - but ONLY tell me if you can find your grammer switch and flip it on...
Yes I have a record of the seller stating the want to keep it, I will definetly keep this handly. Thanks for the tip. Good new is this auction had Paypal's buyer protection on it, so afer 10 days if the seller refuses to send me the item I file a dispute and eventually get my money back (I imagine it will take a while). This will put a strike against the sellers account. I hope everything works out in the end. It just kills the fun of using ebay. Instead of hoping you win the auction your hoping you just get it if you do win

Nice, good to know they don't drag their feet.

I have not taken anything off my car yet, but I have all the parts lined up off the 99 Contour. Worked a bit on a projector retrofit into the contour headlights. I hope to have this project completed before spring. Don't plan on backing down on this project. Gonna be getting the parts painted soon. Hard part is a I can't mock anything up until I pull my car apart and move the rad support over. I plan on picking up another car to drive for a few weeks while I pull my car apart. I don't have much spare time so I gotta allocate a couple weeks atleast to get the front end remounted on the Mystique. Also having fun with the "sleeper" look this car has now. Don't think I would get the "what the heck is that" as often if my car looks like an SVT. It almost makes me want to keep it looking like a 96 Mystique
