I have a 1999 SVT Contour with 113,000 miles on it. Recently i've been noticing that in some gears, the clutch doesn't seem to be grabbing correctly. Does anyone know how to adjust the clutch or what i should do about this?

I was hoping someone could help me out here. I have a 1999 CSVT with 112,000 miles. The tranny seems like it has just gone to hell. Sometimes, it pops out of 2nd gear and grinds like crazy, the 3rd gear syncros are bad,
Stop here: this sounds like a TRASHED gearbox

and in 4th gear mostly, sometimes 3rd or 5th, the car will sometimes rev up alot, but doesn't accelerate anywhere. Maybe it's the clutch?
Yes - it's the clutch - probably worn or glazed

I don't know what the problem is with this thing, i was just looking for some advice from people who know more than me about these cars.
I know a fair bit about them and I can tell you you're looking at a new clutch and a rebuilt tranny - minimum
there is no clutch adjustment other than bleeding it - but that doesn't effect how well it grabs - but rather how well it disengages. So no bleeding it won't help you.

I suggest you start listening. Stage 1 Spec is $279. Comes with pressure plate and TOB as well FYI. They were running a deal on the lightened flywheel if you bought the clutch as well.

I'd have someone pull the trans and ship it to Terry so he can go through it.

IF your gears are grinding that means you'll need a trans rebuild. The clutch and slave cylinder can be replaced once the trans is out. 112,000 is actually more than many including myself have gotten on the original trans.

Any idea on the cost of a rebuilt tranny?

PROPERLY rebuilt $1500. Half assed rebuilt with another stock standard POS ~$1000 or whatever POS you can find in a scrap yard.

And that is cheap in my book. Stazi's cost is adding in a Quaife limited slip differential. Pretty much makes the stock tranny indesctructable to stock power loads. Terry is the only one with twin blockers for the 3rd gear synchro. Ho bought all he could find. The revised single blocker is junk and will fail within another 30k most likely.

So sending it to Terry would cost about $1500 total for the rebuild?
