Im getting ready to upgrade my system, and put alarm/keyless/remotestart on my car. I was wondering if anyone has, or has tried to get a sponsorship from any of the stereo companies or other companies and how difficult they are to get.

you have to establish success on your own before you'll get any sort of sponsorship, generally speaking.

You might have better luck with a local stereo /car audio shop than a brand name to start with.

correct, and sponsorship requires quite a bit of commitment on your end. When I was sponsored by Hifonics I was required to enter 6 comps in a calendar year. Its not like you just get free stuff.

I have been sponsored, yes.

Most companies will ask 2 primary questions:

1. What have you accomplished in competitions (either show-n-shine type or audio type) in the past?

2. What do they get out of the deal?

They want to know your level of commitment to the competition format you want them to sponsor you in. They need to know they are not wasting product by just giving away a freebie. They don't know you from Adam and want to be sure you will be a good promoter of their product. They'll probably make you sign a contract of some sort where you will be required to do at least a minimum number of events (possibly of a certain scale or size depending on the situation) or else get charged for the product they provided. Some sponsors may even require placing their label/logo very prominently on your vehicle which could pose a problem if the vehicle is also your daily driver.

Seeing as I get emails daily on the subject:

1- If you have never ever been to a Audio Comp, you will get rejected.

2- If you have never completed a project like this before, you will get rejected.

3- If you are in High School, you will get rejected

What looks good - You attended and placed at several large shows the prior TWO years (one is good, two lets them know your serious)

-Provide pictures of what you have done, the photos do not need to be great, but you want them to be of something great (prefab boxs, wire mess, bad dash kit installs etc.. not good)

Also make a resume, you need to sell yourself, your car and your ability. Can be a word doc or PDF. I have seen some very well done and some well.... we dont talk about publically
