Which car is faster, a stock 1998 Ford Contour SVT with dyno hp of 160hp and 150 tq, or a modded 1998 Ford Contour LX V6 Mtx with dyno hp of 160hp and 150 tq.

My answer the LX by 2 car lengths in the 1/4 mile. Why? 100 lbs of weight. :p

Merry Christmas!

My 1999 SVT weighed 3180 lbs with me (150) and almost half a tank of gas (7 gals x 8 lbs/gal = 56) so a tad under 3000?

My 1995 SE was like 3100 lbs. The articles about the SVT when it first came out talked about eh weight of 95-97 SE's weighing in at about 3100 lbs and that the new SVT had a weight of about 3060 lbs.
The 95 GL weighed in a about 2900 lbs. So I don't trust those figures from edmunds. I was comparing the GL to the probe at the time, and the Probe weighed in around the 26-2700 lb range that year as well.

well, I would go for the svt, but just one thing i wana say: when comparing the cars, u can't just look at max power and weight. You need to take in consideration where each car gets its power. While the max power is the same, one car might reach the max at a lower rpm, or hold it longer, and have a longer and higher total power band. Anyways, i would go for the svt, but i bought the svt for more than just speed, i bought for for the hand tunning, etc, this car drives a heck lof a lot better than some cars a lot more $$$
