Just trying to figure out if it's my O2 sensor or my MIL elimnator that's crapped out before I go replacing things. The code I threw was

P0136: Downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor circuit fault - Bank No. 1.

If anyone can shed some light on this that would be awesome. I'm not to sure what code gets thrown if you do the mystery mod and don't use any sort of MIL elimator.

You'll get the same code for a downstream O2 sensor as you will a MIL eliminator in this case. I'd check the MIL eliminator (resistor?) first.

Downstream is as explicit as it can be ... the word downstream is refering to the O2's position relative to the catalytic converter in the exhaust manifold. I would check the connection of the MIL's ... could have come unpluged or frayed.

I checked the connection briefly and from the outside nothing appeards to be wrong. Does anyone know how I could actually test the MIL eliminator to see if it is working or should I get my hands on another one and plug it in and see if it fixes the problem

Bank #1 is the rear one. I had a MIL thrown. One of the wires that I screwed into the terminal had come loose from the o2 sensor. I reinstalled the wire and no MIL.

My ODB-2 reader tells me it is now working, before it would say 0v now it flucuates in voltage.

Come by and I will hook it up smile

Well looks like I'll be reaking outhte multimeter on Friday now when I replace my y pipe. I actually hope it is the O2 sensor since then it's on Fords bill and not mine

Wouldn't it most likely be the MIL since it is supposed to override the signal coming from the 02 sensor. If the O2 sensor is dead wouldn't the MIL eliminator keep the PCM thinking everything is all good, or am I all wrong?

Anyways....whats the bst way to test the MIL with the multimeter? What kind of readins should I be looking for. Mine are the plu-in type
