What is the consensus on camshaft useage for a 3.0? Has anyone had any experience with aftermarket (non-Ford) camshafts? As I recall, B Noon ran a 3.0 cam on the exhausts and something else on the intakes.

Depends on your application - but my preference is SVT cams all the way.

I'm guessing a 3L Escape motor with CAT Cams . I must say these are looking to be a huge pain in the arse and may just have to ditch the bloody things. I was told by a performance shop to just put the cams in the car then go to the dealership and have them put the cam gears on and use a degreeing(IIRC) tool to time it. Aaron

Use the SVT cams. Easy swap, and proven good.

You're not likely to find a technician in a Ford dealership that knows how to use a degree wheel. More likely in a high performance engine rebuilding shop. Possibly in a Porsche or VW shop depending on how many years ago they went thru training.

All "regular" split port cams are the same. (2.5L or 3L) The only different split port cams is the SVT set.
All oval port cams are the same.
The Mazda 6 exhaust cam is usable.
All the above specs are known. All cams have the same lift.
Other then that there is CAT cams. They have a nice selection of cam profiles. The main issue with them is they don't come with cam gears.
If I were to pick a set of CAT cams I would go with the Stage 3. If mixed then Stage 3 Intake and Stage 2 exhaust. Specs are on their site.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

Let me know if you eventually decide to go another way with these. I could give these a good home.

Evan: If you end up with the CAT cams then I have first dibs on your SVT cams.
Deal?
