The little bro is thinking about lowering the tour. He just wants to get a set of springs and leave the struts because it's too expensive. What kind of springs would you recommend and how low can you go without having to get a camber kit to fix the camber rather than a four wheel alignment?

I wouldn't expect any stock contour strut to last more than a month or two with any of the available lowering springs. As far as camber, I'm at 1.5" of drop without any noticeable issues with tire wear since i removed the camber kit. It generally a good idea to take care of any alignment issues though, so i'ld figure on a kit right away.

If you're not gonna replace the struts, you might as well just cut the springs.
Anyways, I'm on roush springs (1" drop I reckon) and the alignment is perfect. IIRC it was 1 degree negative in front and .8 degree negative in rear.

No, I'm pretty sure they're their own springs. Possibly eibach made them, such as they make springs for ground control. AFAIK, they are not the same as eibach, in fact this is first time I've even heard a mentioning of such.
I don't think they're really rare, came on a buncha cougars.

I don't think Roush is Eibach. I know other companies have done that. Like Toyota's TRD springs are just Eibachs.
They might not have been rare when you bought them, but who's going to have them now?
About lowering the car on stock struts:
Don't do it without planning on replace them within a few months. I was stubborn and didn't listen, so I was changing mine after about 3-4 months.

Tell your little bro to stop and think.....its your cars suspension. Do you really want to go cheap. Trust me its better for him to wait and save the money to get the whole set up done at once. IMHO!
