(we'll say that's a money sack reference)

Anyhow, T-mobile just released a new phone today, the Samsung SGH-T809. I have been with Sprint since I had a cell phone (7+ years). I've had good years and bad with them, but have developed an awsome plan with them over the years. This new phone for T-mobile is the bee's knees from what I can tell, I'll be checking it out today in person. One reason besides the cool phones thats helping me decide is getting the same plan as my girlfriend so that we can talk more when one of us is out of town (often). I will definitely be paying more money per month to get the service I want through T-mobile, plus a sexy phone, and all the talking I could ever want with you know who (might even be a bad idea, haha.) I am wondering what you guys would do. Yeah, its prob a lot to do for a girlfriend, but this is the uno. Thoughts?

I sincerely hope you have better luck with T-Mobile service than I did. Thankfully, I was only locked into a contract with them for 1 year, and immediately moved back to Cingular.

My advice is not to switch plans with a phone being part of the reason. Chances are it'll be a disappointment. If your Sprint service isn't broke, don't fix it. There are a lot of benefits to being a long-time cellular customer, and I'm sure you won't realize that until you switch to a different carrier. There are a lot of things I get for free because of grandfathered plans that are now charged for at Sprint. You might look into switching your girlfriend to Sprint in order to get free calling with her. You may be able to sneak in some of your benefits on her plan. Check out www.sprintusers.com for more info.

I'm not a big fan of T-Mobile, but it depends on your needs. They have great service where they have coverage but their coverage area isn't very big. It sucked being the only person in a group with no service in many areas while I had T-Mob. Also, don't jump at the new phone on the block, let it age a little and you'll probably be able to get it free after rebate within a couple months. Check out T-Mob's very accurate coverage map, it goes into very fine detail and can show if the service will work for you where you need it.

Yes... if you're not in a decent sized city or on a major highway, T-Mobile WILL SUCK!

Otherwise it's great. I had them for about 3 years, and they treated me pretty good. Unlocked my phone when I asked them to, ended my contract when I moved into an area where T-Mobile isn't around, and gave me free minutes whenever I called.

Also T-Mobile is good if you go overseas... That Samsung is a Quad mode, so it will work everywhere since GSM is THE network overseas. My US T-Mobile phone worked perfectly in Kuwait and here in Germany.

T-Mobile has been good to me. Plus I get to hop onto Cingular's network. Anyway, the Samsung doesn't seem that impressive. That is based on this review here. Hopefully it's the same model you are referencing to.

The bad:
No voice dial = having to look at your phone to dial a number.
It is only Tri-Band, I would rather have quad-band
Poor Battery Life and a mediocre navigational pad

Anyone seen the new V3 yet?

I wish I could find one of those! My generation refers to it as the "Zack Morris" type cell phone. Those things are pimp!

I am also a long time Sprint user, over 5yrs now, and the perks are great. I've got a huge plan thats minimal in cost and being grandfathered in is the best.

if its a big deal about talk time get her a Sprint phone added onto your plan for $9.99/month.

That one's too outlandish ... I prefer mine in leather.
