No, but the hot metal would transfer heat to the incoming intake charge.
My BAT pipe is normally too hot to even touch during the summer. On the highway (or if you stopped and touched it right afterwards) it is only warm. But any other type of driving, or worse, prolonged idling (rush hour, waiting in line, etc) and it gets so hot it won't cool for a while!
I even have done a few little tweaks to help cool the engine bay and help fresh air reach the filter. Doesn't help if the car's not moving or not moving fast!
I even tried coating the intake pipe, but that was only marginal at best.
