Posted last week a couple times, still need help. Ill post a sound clip tomorrow. But here it goes. Doesent sound internal i.e. bearing, I think this because when I open the oil cap, the noise is the same, not amplifyed. I dont think it is injectors, dont know why I think that, When in the car it comes from the firewall area under the steering wheel, but it is harder to place when out side the car with hood open. Clutch possition has no effect on this "rattle". I looked at heat sheilds, they seem secure. I cant pin the noise to any pully inparticular. When the engine is cold, the noise is almost non existant. It starts at about 25g's rpm and is loudest thru 4g's, than it dies down but is still there till redline. Once the engine is at normal heat range it gets louder. At temp the noise will occur if you BARLEY push the gas peadle(before the engine gets any power, feels like a couple millemeters)and dies down once the engine starts to spin, then re appers at 25g. Doesent sound like tranny, but who knows. Thanks guys. Anything helps, at least makes me feel better. Oh yeah, no CEL's no power loss. Oh yeah again, after the engine has had a load on it, then no load and no gas, it is loudest, and sounds like it is fster than the engine is spining.

If it occurs while at an idle, I don't think it's the hubs. Are you sure it's not the lifters? It's the only thing I can think of, other than a pulley. Pick up a automotive stethascope, and try to pin-point the noise.

Does this only occur in motion? I guess I should have asked that first.

Jack up the car, put on jack stands, start and then go under and try to determine if the sound is from the EGR tube (near the pre cat) or any of the other hoses near that. Note there are two other hoses which go to the DPFE.

Edit. Orifice tube is what it is called across the pond (for the EGR tube).
