IM INTERESTED IN GETTING MSDS HEADERS, I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF PERFORMANCE NUMBERS DID YOU GET OUT OF THEM. DO YOU RECOMMEND THAT I TAKE THE RESONATOR OFF? HOWS IT SOUND & IS IT EASY TO INSTALL?

No resonator + MSDS = really loud
Install: get a shop to do it or someone who has a lift a knows what they're doing

Definitely a difference, not as much as you would expect given the numbers most sites claim.

A cheaper alternative that would cost a heck of a lot less is gutting the precats.

Good luck.

MSDS + no main cat + Borla Cat-back = REALLY Super loud... People ask if I have a V8

I would leave the resonator in & I think they definately gave a big help in power.

As for the installation, I installed them when I had the engine out...

Not as much gain with Msds as you might expect. I dynoed at 174hp, 154.4tq with KKM,Pro-flow 75mm MAF, SHO-Shop Y-pipe/cat, and Borla cat-back. Switched to MSDS Vortech Spec) Headers and Y-pipe, Stock cat, dynoed at 179.3hp and 156.7tq. I'm still running stock chip, so I'm sure that it is not "tuned" to optimize performance for these mods. If you haven't done any other mods, would suggest you work on intake and cat-back exhaust first. As for install of headers, I had them installed when doing Quaife and clutch install. There are folks on this site that have done install on their driveways, seems to be a 2-man job with lot's of universals and extensions etc. As for sound, with stock cat and Borla, sounds great. Not too loud until I really step into it then it roars. Definately gets attention!

I had mine installed along with the Quaife so everything was out of the car so can't comment on the install. The car is pretty loud with borla and off road y-pipe. I had dynoed before the headers at 175hp/151tq after headers 179hp/156tq. The big difference was about 15 to 20 lbs/ft down low, but only around 4 to 5 lbs/ft in the upper rpm. With the stock exhuast replaced with Borla power is 184hp/157tq. The headers made the car run lean so there should be more power with a custom chip that adds fuel and timing. Hopefully next week.

Some friends and I just installed MSDS headers onto two cougars Friday night into Saturday morning.

The first car took about 6.5 hours and the second one was about 5.5.

The front manifold/header is easy to remove/install since there really isn't anything in the way. On the rear manifold the upper o2 sensor and EGR connector are pretty annoying to get at, we used a small pipe wrench to get the EGR off. The back manifold/header the upper and lower right nuts and studs are very difficult to get to, but we didn't need to remove the alternator.

Once everything was on, both cars do have quite an increasein performance.. Not night-and-day, but definitely a nice jump.

Cougar #1 has an Injen Intake,MSDS Headers, and a custom 2,5" exhaust with a Dynomax turbo muffler.

Cougar #2 has a KKM Intake, IAT Mod, Fidanza Flywheel, Quaife LSD, Grizzly clutch, MSDS Headers, and a custom exhaust that starts at 2.25", goes to a borla muffler (we think), and about a foot after, expands to 2.5".

Both cars exhausts are now considerably louder, but not in a bad way. They now sound quite a bit deeper.

Racing the two cars, Cougar #2 wins by a long shot thanks to the additional tranny upgrades. Once the wheels hook up he's totally pulling away from Cougar #1.

Cougar #1 beat a stock Eagle Talon TSi AWD in a race... and before, it couldn't.

I have MSDS Headers on order (we ordered as a group.. but Marty only makes 25 at a time so mine are taking longer and should be to me by the end of december) Right now I have gutted precats which honestly gave my car no performance increase at all, but it did improve my gas mileage... Really hoping MSDS helps mine..

update - still waiting.. but since my cars broke i dont really have any use for em right now... would still like em tho, they'd look real nice sitting in my living room waitin for my car to come back

But you notice all the "short ended" gains all stop at 179 fwhp? If you started at 165 fwhp youd bump around 177 fwhp but the fuel system just can't give any more than 180 HP without other mods.

Nebaukanezzer I'm going to beg to differ on this one...

Often, though, 180 does seem to be a limit w/o timing/fuel mods.
