So I have a 2000 Ford Contour SVT with almost 74,000 miles on it. Still have an extended warranty on it until 75,000, but obviously that is about to expire. The question is do you guys think it is work it to pay the extra 600 to 1200 dollars to extend the warranty to 100,000 miles? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'd do it... who knows what might break in the next 25K miles.

Yes, it is worth it. I wish I could buy another extended warranty when mine expires at 90k (another 3k).

My thoughts also. Now the question is which warranty to go with. It seems that my bumper to bumper warranty does not cover many things that just wear out (dash, leaks, etc.). So I'm thinking just to go with the base warranty and just cover the basics such as engine and transmission.

So long as the engine, transmission, and suspension are covered, you should be good. (Emphasis on suspension - at least from my own personal experience, maybe the roads in your area are better...)

It's too late to extend the Ford ESP. I think it is too late for non Ford plans as well. The car must still be in the 36/36 warranty to alter the extended warranty.

Read the warranyt carefully and ask ALOT of questions to make sure you know what you have covered. I would take notes and let them know you wrote it down. Cause they will try to pull a fast one on you if something does go wrong. Good luck!
