I have a 98 Contour 2.0L (DOHC) and the trans has given up the ghost. I have been scouring the yards and have been noticed there are about 6 different CD4Es used that year. I have a F83P-DA, but can I use any of the others? ie F73P-BA, F83P-DB, F73P-BB?

Thanks!

I may be wrong but as long as you get a Zetec CD4e you should be all set. To the best of my knowledge they are all compatible. I could be wrong though...

Anyone know why the bone yards are so obsessed with the tag number, other than if it was from a 4 or a 6?

I understand there are computer related reasons to stay with the same code. Somewhere I heard that one series will work as a swap for some of the others, but they won't all work the other way around. I have a f73bb and was told to stay with that code or face possible incompatibility with the PCM.
