So rare that Ford never made any, to my knowledge.

Not a true statement. When I bought my Sport Trac in 2003, you could buy a bottom of the line model with a manual transmission.

A manual tranny with an Explorer Express Supercharger and that might be a heck of a sleeper!

He didn't buy it simply because they offer a manual tranny? I simply don't understand the logic. Personally, I would have been interested in the manual if it would have been available on the XLT.

I don't understand why people have this, "if its not a Manual, I don't want it attitude". Personally I'd want an Auto. in anything except a performance car. I'd want an Auto. in any truck or SUV I was buying. Just makes it simpler to drive, especially while towing.

Some people simply love driving manuals. I don't really have much intreast in owning another automatic, atleast not for a while. I just enjoy driving so much more when I'm behind the wheel of a car with a stick.

I agree. I have my escort with a stick and love it for what I use it for (autox), but I have my contour with auto for daily driving and like just jumping in and going. If I had a truck, I'd almost definitely get an auto because trucks aren't made to go fast and towing, etc. would be a lot easier.
