I have a 2.25" exhaust with a direct fit magnaflow muffler and the resonator removed. I was wondering what I should get: trubendz dual exhaust Or A chip of some sort. I test drove 2 SVT's in the past week. The SVT is faster than my 95SE but it would not blow the doors off. I test drove a 98 Svt, and a 2000 SVT. I just need a little more power under the hood. What do you guys think?

If it's the only mod you are going to do to your car I would go with the chip. But if you have more mods planned down the road I would go with the exhaust. Chip should be the last thing on your mod list if you have many planned.

If you plan to do more mods soon, put off the chip for now. Meanwhile, you already did an exhaust upgrade according to your sig lines, so you've already harvested a portion of your expected exhaust gain. So you still want a big jump. Have you done anything about your stock y pipe? Do you have friends/equipment/time/money (in the right combination) for headers?

Somehow,I don't think SVT owners are going to like that statement much

I'd pick up SVT components while you're at it. SVT Throttle Body, SVT Upper Intake Manifold (if it c an be had for a decent price) and the lower manifolds as well. Though, the only reason I didn't do the manifolds is because it won't give me anough of a gain for the price (as you've somewhat referred to yourself). That can be argued, though, and I know there a few on the boards who would beg to differ with me.

But for the costs it would take to make an SE engine equivalent in HP/TQ to an SVT engine, might as well swap in a complete 3L to save the headache.

But back to what you want to do, I would go with the Trubendz (or any) exhaust system you're after.

true but look at the diff, 170hp compared to about 200hp not a big difference

On topic: id say go with the exhaust, Billy (pre98)has the magnaflow reosnated one he did have the borla muffler with it but he took it off and it sound much better,

like everyone else said if ur planning on doing more mods than just exhaust id wait and do ur mods then do teh chip to support the mods.

Hey guys just wondering, are there any programs available for these cars where u can just tune it or go into teh computer turn on/off reset and or readjust things without need of a chip, just wondering cuz i know i can and it makes things much easier , also are are ur chips just "drop in" chips or do they actually have to be soldered in ?

sure are,you have the sct xcal2, then theres the sct proracer package, which is the same software used by sct dealers to burn chips for customers, and i havent heard of anyone actually soldering in a chip on these cars...some of the later models you have to solder a jumper thats it

We need to get Bill to bring that chip to my buddy to see if he can flash it, then we can get him hooked up with a tune...

I love having the nice, quick, firm shifts... Makes having an ATX not all THAT bad...

EDIT: Oh yea, on my late 99 (build date 9/99), we had to solder the J3 port... Without it soldered and the chip in if you tried to turn the car on the speedo would just get pegged at 130mph...

On earlier cars you should be good to go though...
