I'm looking to buy a new car within the next few months (or weeks maybe ), and I have been looking at the Mazda 6 ever since they first came out. Basically what I am looking for are opinions from current or past owners on what you like about the car, what you don't like, etc. Also the trim level, engine type and transmission choice would be useful as well. Still undecided as to whether to get an automatic or manual (it will be used for work as well as daily driver). Car will be leased if that makes any difference. Thanks people.

Not that I own one, but I've been looking at them used. The wagons seem to have held value as well as a screen door in a submarine holds water. There are a bunch of cream-puff wagons out there with under 15K miles for $14K. The $3K rebate they had last summer really did a number on the resale for them.

Get the manual, first off. We have an auto 4-cylinder Six and while it's a good car for my wife, and a decently fun car to drive in manumatic mode and stomping the gas, the throttle lag and gearing with the ATX just drive me nuts. I like the car, though.

I have a 6i (4 cylinder) with a manual tranmission. It is a 5 door hatchback. I love the hatchback model. Get a 6 cylinder if more power is what you like, although the 4 with the 5 speed does a nice job. Get one with as many options as you can afford. I really like the leather, power moon roof and Bose audio. Look at my website for pictures and feel free to email or PM me if you have anymore questions.

Only the V6 models have the 6-speed Automatic, which debuted for 2005. 4 cylinder 2006 Mazda6's have a 5-speed.
That said, the manual is really needed to experience the true demeanor of the car. If you haul things, but don't want a wagon, the 5-door is a great blend of sport and utility.
If you will regularly carry clients in the back seat, however, the extra head room of the sedan and wagon would be beneficial to you.

I think trim and such really is up to you and what you want out of a car. Keep in mind the 2006 is MUCH plainer than older years, so the Sport package is almost essential (it doesn't even look sporty).
