None of the recalls have been done on this thing. Many of them can cause the car to catch fire.

Drive it pretty hard if/when you test drive it. Make sure you can get it up to freeway speeds. Hard turns, etc. Hidden problems will ruin your day.

CH is right, also if it is at a Ford dealer have them do the recalls if you dont feel safe.

This car doesnt have a waarenty, and its located at a local used car lot so I can't get an extended warrenty from ford.. Would they still have to fix the recall for free if something happes. Or am i responsible to pay my mechanic to do it???

Recalls are paid for by Ford.

coo thnx for every 1s responses im not getting taht car i drove it and the traanny is gettn bad it shifts very high.. of course the used car lot tells me that its a great car and its problem free..

I will be purchasing a 98 or 99 contour gl or lx this saturday not sure yet since there is 31 of them at the auction all from the ny state government
