Is upper under the plastic cover- though that's for pre-cats? Pics in Haynes, and my inexperience are little help. No garage, rain and pending darkness are no joy either Is a special tool needed? What size wrench? It is supposed to pour tomorrow so maybe I can get everything together beforehand. btw - what do folks use for anti-seize compound? Thanks! OP Gaffer Newbie G Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 9 NC	Double-posting, sorry but inquiring minds... If removing the O2 sensor improves the 'symptom' what am I looking at? Replacing the exhaust system? Can I do it? How much should it cost? I don't trust the local Ford shop as they've rarely fixed a problem with this car. Further, one time they 'lost' the replaced part to janitorial services after I asked for it - thinking it had nothing to do with the problem. Am venting, but would like an idea of where we are headed if possible. Thanks again, I appreciate the input and support.

For a 95, there is only one sensor for each precat (Bank 1 firewall side, and Bank 2 radiator side). Remove the main catalytic converter (under the vehicle closer to the front seats) and if the performance inmproves, you have a plugged main catalytic converter. If not, then you have a plugged pre-catalytic converter. To test for plugged pre-cat, reinstall main cat, remove Bank 2 (radiator side) sensor. If performance improves, then you have a plugged Bank 2 pre-cat. If not then you have a plugged Bank 1 (firewall side) pre-cat. You either gut the pre-cats or main cat (if it is plugged) to do it the cheap way. I think NC doesn't have emissions smog test. Or install new pre-cats or a main cat.
