Think that's unbelievable, I could tell you a few stories that really would blow you out of the water.
Anyway, so I've had my share of exemplary bad drivers, but so far it seems I'm following in my dad's footsteps, who has been pulled over occasionally, but only received one or two tickets in the 30+ years he's been driving.

The only thing that's unbelievable about that is that you think he's telling the truth and/or that he thinks people believe him when he says that.

Seriously, I'm beginning to like the Blacksburg cops because they're so lenient. Basically, if you're not doing something ridiculously stupid (especially in public - like this one guy who decided to piss on a cop car outside the stadium during the Boston College game and got arrested), they'll just set you straight and be on their way. The first party I hosted at my apartment this year, the cops came by in response to a noise complaint, and just warned me that I could get a fine for being too loud. They could have arrested all 10 of us for underage drinking and probably several other charges.
Honestly, I think it's more of an intelligent law enforcement, as opposed to following the law strictly and blindly. I think it's a smart idea in this area, because the cops would be overwhelmed, as would the jails, if, for example, they went around trying to bust every underage person who goes to parties and drinks on the weekend. The speed limit was 35 for a small stretch of the road and 45 for the rest, but 50-something in my opinion is still a reasonably safe speed. If the cop who pulled me over was following me for more than a couple of minutes, he would have witnessed the deer that suddenly appeared on the road in front of me, and the fact that I had ample time to stop and avoid hitting it, despite the fact that I was indeed travelling well over the speed limit.
Usually I would have been more careful, especially in the area I was driving through, since I know it's a speed trap and it's much harder to spot cop cars at night. But what can I say, I was on a natural high that night and I guess I failed to pay as much attention to my speed as I normally would. I was still fully capable of spotting road hazards and avoiding them, and that's what matters.

I never said 4 years, I said he was in his early 20s. I can't remember exactly how old he was, but no more than 25 I'm sure.
